Highlight-Mandate

  • Advised Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co Inc (KKR), in partnership with Simpson Thatcher Bartlett in 2023, on the £1.3 billion acquisition of Smart Metering Systems, which included over 290 MW of operational or under construction standalone battery storage and 570 MW of pre-construction standalone battery storage.
  • Advised Masdar on the development of three renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan for a combined capacity of 1GW: (a) a 445 MWac solar PV project; (b) a 315 MWac solar PV project; and (c) a 240 MWac onshore wind project, which will each involve the State Oil Co. of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) as a minority shareholder.
  • Advised BEIS in relation to the Energy Prices Act 2022, and in relation to: the Energy Price Guarantee scheme, the Energy Bill Relief Scheme; the extension of the Energy Bill Support Scheme to Northern Ireland; a proposal to cap electricity generator revenues; and several other schemes.
