The regulatory law and financial market regulation expert Christian Hissnauer leads the Gleiss Lutz team since the departure of Maximilian von Rom in May 2024. The practice advises German and international banks and financial institutions on all regulatory issues, including incorporation as well as liquidation. The team is well versed in cross-practice issues at the interface with corporate law and M&A and regularly supports transactions as well as the restructuring of banks and other stabilisation measures.

Highlight-Mandate

Advising Global Payments, a provider of payment technologies and software solutions, on the establishment of a joint venture with Commerzbank. The joint venture is intended to operate as a payment service provider, in particular the acquisition business in Germany and the EU.
Advising a Japanese credit institution on the granting of a guarantee to a German credit institution in the amount of €500 million. The guarantee is to be used by the German credit institution as credit risk mitigation in connection with the acquisition of a credit card portfolio from a German bank.
Advising a French banking group on a planned reorganisation of its group structure.
