Providing ‘very deep advice’, Dentons’s eight-member department is experienced in advising on complex environmental issues, in addition to mining, water and energy-related mandates. The environment and natural resources group also assists with the resolution of conflicts before arbitration tribunals and courts. The team’s representative expertise covers environmental assessment procedures, permits, ESG issues, and advice on environmental liability and exposure. The practice is co-led by José Ignacio Morán, an adviser on projects from both water and environmental perspectives; and José Domingo Villanueva, whose workload includes environmental assessments, obtaining environmental permits and representation in sanctioning proceedings. Recent highlights for associate Cristián Vial include advising on water supply issues in relation to mining projects. Former associate Blanca Dominguez joined Nestlé during 2023.
