Representing clients before the Federal Superior Courts, the Federal Auditing Court, governmental and legislative entities, as well as arbitration and mediation chambers, the government relations practice at MJ Alves Burle e Viana Advogados is capable of handling high-value and complex matters involving cross-border jurisdictions. The team is at the forefront of challenging the Brazilian regulatory framework, often proposing amendments which have and will alter the legal landscape. Co-leading the practice are Marcos Joaquim Gonçalves Alves, Fernanda Burle, and Alan Flores Viana: Alves has extensive experience acting before the Supreme Court and the Superior Court of Justice in matters pertaining to tax and administrative law; Burle has particular experience in corporate and international trade law; and Viana is an expert in negotiations and settlement agreements related to tax, agribusiness, and regulatory issues. Another active member of the group is Ana Carolina Georges e Castro, who specialises in government relations, covering tax, criminal, and labour law. Leandro Bettini notably joined the team as partner in January 2023 from Mattos Filho. Former co-head Adriana Rocha Abrão is no longer at the firm.
